The donor, Virginia W. Cook, was wife of Woodrow Cook, an active Mullens businessman, former Mayor and member of the Wyoming County Commission. Virginia established this field-of-interest fund in 2010 to generate income that is used to beautify the Mullens area with a focus on parks, gardens and planters as well as the prevention and cleanup of litter. Specific recipients shall be recommended by an advisory board. Mrs. Cook passed away December 3, 2021 at the age of 103 years. She lived in the Mullens area all of her life. She graduated from WVU in 1939 and taught Home Economics at Mullens High School for 33 years. Anyone may make gifts in any amount to this fund. All donations are invested, and the income is used for the purpose designated when the fund was established.
