Farris E. Rahall of St. Petersburg, Florida, a native of Beckley, established this endowment in memory of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Nick Rahall, for the purpose of improving public education in Raleigh County, particularly in the field of business. Born in Beckley, one of four sons of a Lebanese (Syrian immigrant), he and two brothers found a common occupation in post-World War II broadcasting and became principals in Rahall Communications Corp. They operated radio stations in West Virginia and five other states. This fund was created in 1991.
