During the dark days of the Great Depression in the 1930s, the editor of the Beckley Post-Herald, Ted McDowell, implored his readers to give toys for tots who were not likely to get anything at Christmas. Every editor since then has kept this popular program alive. Income from this fund will help finance the purchase of toys and goodies for underprivileged girls and boys for many Christmases to come. As with all endowments at Beckley Area Foundation monetary donations are welcomed.
