J. Franklin Long and his wife Vernon C. Long established this permanent endowment to generate income for the J. Franklin Long and Vernon C. Long Scholarship Fund awards to be made through the United Methodist Foundation of West Virginia. Mr. Long is a retired lawyer having practiced in Bluefield, WV. During his prestigious career he served in many legal roles and positions. He is a past president of the WV Bar Association, a board member of the WVU Foundation and was recognized as the state’s Most Outstanding Black Attorney by the Mountain State Bar Association.
