Sam Amato was a retired educator, conscientious and thoughtful man who loved animals. He died in Nov., 2008, and left a significant testamentary gift to establish four similar but separate endowments within BAF. This fund for Fayette County and others for Raleigh, Summers, and Wyoming Counties will generate income to assist spaying and neutering costs for pets available for adoption. The income will be distributed to legitimate animal shelters within these counties, providing that the shelter has been in operation for at least one year as a non-profit organization. If a county has more than one such animal shelter, the income shall rotate among them.
