This fund was established through the generosity of Dr. Heather Hagerman, Director of the Family Institute of West Virginia and a counselor educator at Marshall University. Originally, designated as a donor advised endowment its purpose was to provide financial support for educational opportunities and seminars to medical and legal professionals, child protective service workers, mental health clinicians, and law enforcement personnel who provide services to abused, neglected or traumatized children and their families. In 2016 a BAF board resolution designated that the income would be distributed annually to Just For Kids, Inc., a child advocacy center serving Raleigh, Fayette and Wyoming counties.
