Dr. Curtis H. Thomas, Jr. established this fund in honor of his father who helped him get through many years of school. C. Hampton “Hamp” Thomas, Sr. and his family lived in Sophia where he served on the town council and later as mayor. He died in 1989. This fund benefits the town of Sophia for beautification efforts or other projects. Dr. Hampton Thomas, Jr. died in May, 2015. The Sophia City Council makes annual recommendations as to how the income shall be spent.
