Initially a memorial scholarship, Brenda’s husband Jack, her son and friends started this fund following Brenda’s 2002 death from colon cancer. A match from the Dr. Thomas Walker Memorial Health Foundation doubled the initial donation. A 2014 board resolution altered the purpose to provide financial support to the Wyoming County Toy Fund for the benefit of the children serviced by the Toy Fund. Brenda worked for the WV Department of Health and Human Resources for 34 years. She was a teacher, mentor, and advocate, and friends to the many staff members, families and children who knew her.
