The Beckley Area Foundation’s Susan Landis Youth Philanthropists (SLYP) program celebrated another successful year of student leadership, service, and philanthropy during its 2026 Capstone Ceremony held Monday evening.
The event brought together students, mentors, families, and community supporters to recognize the accomplishments of this year’s participants and celebrate the meaningful impact they are making throughout Southern West Virginia. Through SLYP, students gain hands-on experience in leadership development, community engagement, philanthropy, and charitable giving while learning the importance of service and collaboration.
Throughout the program, students work together to identify community needs, evaluate local organizations, and support initiatives that create meaningful change across the region. This year, SLYP students awarded grants to several organizations making a difference in the lives of local residents, including the Salvation Army, Crab Orchard Baptist Church, Beckley Dream Center, Summit Collective, Young Life, and United Way of Southern West Virginia.
