The Beckley Area Foundation is pleased to announce the establishment of the Trap Hill Alumni Association – Max Trail Scholarship Fund, a permanently endowed scholarship created through the generosity of the Estate of Max Trail to honor the legacy and strong educational tradition of the Trap Hill community.
The fund was established to provide meaningful financial assistance to graduating seniors from Liberty High School in Glen Daniel, West Virginia, who reside in the former Trap Hill High School District. Eligible communities include Bolt, Dameron, Fairdale, Glen Daniel, Hoo Hoo Hollow, Lester, Maple Meadow, Saxon, Surveyor, and Tolleytown.
The scholarship seeks to reduce financial barriers to higher education while recognizing academic achievement. Scholarship funds may be used to pursue post-secondary education at an accredited college, university, vocational school, or technical institution. There are no restrictions on field of study, allowing recipients flexibility to pursue academic and career paths aligned with their individual goals. As a permanently endowed fund, the Trap Hill Alumni Association – Max Trail Scholarship Fund will provide annual awards supported by investment earnings, ensuring long-term sustainability and ongoing opportunities for students from the Trap Hill District for generations to come.
