A 2004 testamentary gift from the estate of Ruth Wilson established this unrestricted fund. The income will be used to respond to requests submitted by Raleigh County non-profit charitable organizations. Ruth was born in Raleigh County and attended local schools. She graduated from Sullins College in Bristol, VA and immediately went to work. She retired after 45 years of employment with the managerial department of Appalachian Power Company, now AEP. She had been a member of the Beckley Presbyterian Church, the Beckley Woman’s Club, and the AEP Veterans and Retired Employees Association. She established a 2nd fund benefiting the Beckley Presbyterian Church.
