Utilizing BAF’s ‘building over time’ option Ron and Sallie donated stock as an initial gift to establish a designated fund. A native of Raleigh County, Ron graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in 1952. Following graduation, he worked one year at Beckley National Bank, served two years in the military, and then attended the Bowling Green Business University, earning a BS degree in accounting. Raleigh County became their permanent home in 2000. Ron then served as the volunteer financial officer for BAF for a number of years. Together they owned and operated the Merritt House Bed and Breakfast in Beckley. They were active members of the Beckley Presbyterian Church. Sallie died in November 2008 and Ron relocated to Bowling Green shortly thereafter. Annual income distribution benefits the Davis Stuart Home in Lewisburg, WV and Hospice of Southern WV.
