Miss Helen Jane Couch left a bequest in her will for the Raleigh County Library. Her gift was matched by the Dr. Thomas Walker Foundation, giving the library an endowment fund which will continue to benefit it for generations to come. The fund was established in November 1988. A second $10,000 testamentary gift was received by the Library and matched dollar for dollar by the Dr. Thomas Walker Foundation in November 2002. The name of this donor remains anonymous.
