The Dr. Thomas Walker Memorial Health Foundation honored Jay Word in 2004, a member of the Walker Foundation board of directors, with a permanent BAF endowment bearing his name. Serving on the BAF board and having chaired BAF’s distributions committee, Jay was well aware of the significant need for discretionary money to answer proposals submitted in the annual grant review program. He therefore directed that income from this fund be added to the unrestricted pool. He later served as BAF Board President.
