Siblings A.V. Bowman and Bonnie Thurston wished to honor their father in a permanent fashion following his death in 2004. This is one of two BAF endowments that they initiated. E.V. was a mining engineer who graduated from Virginia Tech in 1941 and returned to teach and earn a master’s degree. The scholarship recipient must have graduated from a high school in Raleigh, Fayette, Summers, Mercer, or Wyoming Counties.
