This unrestricted fund honors Beckley couples who were prominent in the community for many years. Dr. Wriston (1879-1968) practiced medicine here for more than 50 years, was a founder of Raleigh General Hospital and mayor of Beckley for two terms. Judge File (1882-1942) from Buckingham County, VA practiced law in Beckley for more than 30 years and was judge of the Circuit Court of Raleigh County at the time of his death. This endowment was started in 1988 by their children W. H. File Jr. and Marjorie Wriston File.
