This is the second BAF fund established by Beckley philanthropist, Leslie Carter. The income is equally distributed to benefit Appalachian Bible College and the Concord University Foundation, Inc. Leslie Carter was a Beckley businessman, banker and philanthropist. He joined the Raleigh County National Bank (now United Bank) as a loan officer and appraiser. He was the Executive Committee Chairman for more than 20 years and became vice president of the bank. He was elected to the board of directors in 1943 and became director emeritus in 1977. He was administrator of the Carter Family Foundation established to provide college scholarships, church and college support and grants for social and health services, charities and other programs.
