Jereme Evans, current President of the Beckley Area Foundation, shares his personal journey into the organization and his pride in its ongoing impact. Introduced to BAF through a friend already serving on the board, Jereme was quickly drawn in by the Foundation’s work and mission—a powerful and practical way to give back to the community he calls home.
Jereme highlights one of BAF’s recent projects with the Raleigh County Veterans Museum. With community support and BAF’s funding, the museum successfully relocated and upgraded its facility, creating a dignified and lasting tribute to local veterans. This project is just one example of how BAF helps bring meaningful visions to life through strategic support and donor generosity.
He also touches on the legacy and future of giving, noting how the generosity of today’s donors will sustain BAF for generations to come. As a father, Jereme saw this firsthand when his daughter participated in the Susan Landis Youth Philanthropy program. This initiative empowers teens to learn about and engage in community giving.
Jereme offers encouragement to future BAF leaders, urging them to ask, “What more can we do for the community?” and to draw on the expertise and passion of those around them. As the Foundation celebrates its 40th anniversary, Jereme expresses both gratitude and excitement, not only for what BAF has accomplished, but for its potential to continue shaping southern West Virginia for decades to come.
