In 2008, then BAF board president, Jay Word, and his wife, Lisa utilized the Foundation’s ‘Building Over Time’ option to start a fund honoring Jay’s sister and her husband. It has been popular for people to establish named funds which receive charitable gifts honoring other family members rather than exchanging gifts during holidays and birthdays. As Jay understood the crucial need of building discretionary funds that can respond in a significant manner to the needs and opportunities of our communities as they evolve over time, he designated this fund to be unrestricted.
