The Beckley Area Foundation is proud to announce the establishment of the Joseph Fourney Family Fund, a new donor advised fund created by Joseph Fourney, Cathy Hess Fourney and Cathy Jo Fourney to provide a lasting source of charitable support through the Foundation.
The fund reflects the Fourney family’s longstanding connection to the Beckley area and a shared tradition of service and generosity. Through the fund, the family has created a permanent charitable resource that provides flexibility to support organizations and causes that are meaningful to them now and in the years ahead.
Service to the community has long been part of the Fourney family story. Joseph Charles “Joe” Fourney spent decades serving the region as a pharmacist, including 35 years as a pharmacist and manager at Kelly Drug in Oak Hill. He was also actively involved in his church and community, including many years as a member of the Beckley Rotary Club.
That local connection continued through his son, Joseph “Joe” Fourney II, who owned Fourney Fasteners beginning in 1996. Remembered for his big heart, smile and sense of humor, Joe was deeply connected to the family, friends and community around him.
The Joseph Fourney Family Fund gives the family an opportunity to continue that spirit of giving by recommending charitable organizations and causes for support. Its donor advised structure provides flexibility for the fund to respond to charitable interests and needs over time while remaining a lasting part of the family’s legacy.
