In 2008 two area couples, Rick and Debbie Gray and Tony and Joanne Kelly, created a fund that allowed many people to make a difference. At the same time, they remembered the lives of their brothers who each died from problems associated with addiction. Debbie and Joanne asked if friends and family would consider making a charitable gift to a permanent endowment rather than find, purchase and deliver presents during the holidays and upon birthdays. The idea worked; not only immediate family members but dozens of friends responded to the opportunity with donations large and small. Income from those gifts continue to be used by the Southern WV Fellowship Home to care for men with alcohol and drug addiction. The fund continues to grow and serves as a model for others who might be looking for a meaningful way to pool resources and give charity a place in the holiday season.
