This fund was started in 2002 by Bruce and Kathryn Lazenby in memory of Bruce’s parents, Ken and Nell. The fund income will be used to meet the charitable needs of our community under the supervision of the Beckley Presbyterian Church. The donors were able to receive WV state tax credits through the Neighborhood Investment Program and also took advantage of the Dr. Thomas Walker Memorial Foundation matching opportunity. Ken Lazenby, a graduate of Princeton High School was employed by Appalachian Power Co. for over 49 years. He was an elder in the Beckley Presbyterian Church. A World War II veteran, he was a member of the US Army Air Corps and was in action in India and Burma. Nell Lazenby graduated from Point Pleasant High School and was a recipient of the WV Golden Horseshoe Award. She was active in the Beckley Art Group and Beckley Presbyterian Church. Ken died in 1994, and Nell in 2002.
