This unrestricted endowment was established through a testamentary gift from the estate of Jean Marie Guy who died in June, 2012. Jean was the daughter of the late Rev. Guy E. and Dainty Vaughan. She graduated from Nicholas County High School and Concord College. She married Benjamin Morrell Guy Jr. of Beckley in 1950. After moving several times due to her husband’s work, the couple chose to retire in Beckley. Ben died in 1992. Jean was a Pink Lady at Raleigh General Hospital, a member of Phymosia Garden Club, a devoted animal lover, a world traveler and a member of the Beckley Presbyterian Church. Jean’s original gift will provide income from this fund for BAF’s strategic and responsive grantmaking to organizations and programs that address solutions to the most pressing needs in our community.
