This unrestricted fund benefiting community projects was established by Price H. Calfee, Jr. in memory of his wife Eloise, who was killed in an automobile accident in 1988. She was always interested in community and was a Red Cross and Raleigh County Library volunteer. This was the 63rd fund created in 1990 at Beckley Area Foundation. Additional donations have been made to the fund in memory of Connor Anthony Calfee, infant son of Dan and Tina Calfee and grandson of Price and Eloise Calfee, and family patriarch Price Calfee, Jr. who died in March, 2008. Revenue from unrestricted funds provides an income stream for grant awards which offer flexibility to respond as community conditions, needs and opportunities change over time.
