This endowment fund recognizes one of the owners of Beckley Hospital, a respected surgeon and businessman who came to Beckley in 1922. Shortly thereafter he and Dr. A. U. Tieche purchased Beckley Hospital from Dr. J. E. Coleman. Income from this fund provides scholarships for area students pursuing studies in a health science field at the University of Charleston-Beckley.
