Established in 1988 by the Lewis Chevrolet Company, in memory of its owner who died in December 1987, this fund originally defrayed tuition costs for qualified employees of Lewis Automotive who enrolled at Beckley College (which was later renamed College of WV and eventually Mountain State University). Upon closing of MSU, the fund became donor advised. Mr. Lewis was an active community citizen and one of the ten original Beckley Area Foundation board members.
