Drs. Charles and Frances Sayre Beasley’s intent in creating this unrestricted fund was to honor the personal and professional associations of their daughter and son-in-law to the people and institutions of southern West Virginia. Although longtime residents of the New York City area, Carol has Beckley roots and James has extensive southern WV mining industry associations. Charles and Frances were able to benefit from a 2013 matching grant opportunity from the Massey Foundation. The Beasleys’ expressed their appreciation for the matching opportunity, as well as the efforts of all those whose compensated, uncompensated and in-kind efforts have enabled so much for so many.
