Andy Holland died in May, 2012, of cancer. Born in 1948, he was adopted as an infant by Basil and Mabel holland of Glen Daniel. Studious and quiet, he graduated from Trap Hill High School and took out loans to fund his way through college. Earning a degree in education with an emphasis on mathematics and then a master’s degree in education, he taught algebra and coached basketball at Liberty High School. Golf started as a hobby but ended up being one of the greatest joys and talents of his life. It became his retirement pastime. As part of his legacy, he wanted to provide access to higher education for those most deserving, but not always financially able. His desire to help provide a pathway for Liberty High school graduates for years to come led him to leave a testamentary gift creating this scholarship fund at BAF.
