Lena Conte established this fund in memory of her husband and her parents. The Mazzellas were born in Italy but immigrated to the United States, eventually purchasing Jimmie’s Place on South Kanawha Street. Louis Conte was born on the island of Ponza in Italy; he married Lena and they eventually took over management of Jimmie’s Place. They always valued education and supported their three daughters in completing college degrees. This fund will generate income for a need-based scholarship for a Woodrow Wilson High School graduate who is attending the West Virginia University School of Medicine.
