This memorial fund honors Mr. Trail, long time educator and superintendent of schools in Raleigh County. Income from the endowment will be used for scholarships for one or more graduates of Independence High School attending accredited colleges, universities, vocational or nursing schools. Many additional gifts were made to the fund in memory of Patricia Trail Peters, Sherman’s daughter and a respected teacher who died of cancer.
