In 2009, it was a long-standing dream of the United Way staff and board of directors to have an endowment that would produce sufficient income to cover their administrative costs without using annual campaign dollars. The late Dan Bickey and his wife Cynthia understood the importance of this goal and provided the seed money necessary to establish an administrative fund. This is one of ten funds developed by the Bickeys at the Beckley Area Foundation.
