The donors, Mary and H. Louis Kirkpatrick, established this endowment fund in 1991 to benefit the Women’s Resource Center. Since the plight of battered spouses was of particular concern to the donors, all income from this endowment is to go to the Center. Mr. Kirkpatrick was a World War II veteran, University of Kentucky Alumni and retired from the New River Company as the Executive Vice-President following a successful career in the coal industry. Mary was a 1943 graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School and the University of Kentucky. She served as secretary/treasurer of Lillybrook Land Company. Mary and Kirk were married for 61 years, the parents of Judge H. L. Kirkpatrick and Ann Kirkpatrick Price, members of the Mt. Hope Presbyterian Church and active in numerous other civic activities.
