Hunter M. Smith, a vice-president of Salomon Smith Barney’s Charleston office, pledged $10,000 in appreciated stock to establish this fund if Raleigh County donors would match this gift. Joey and Bekki Childress organized the “100 for $100” drive and met the challenge. All of these gifts were then matched by the Walker Foundation creating a significant endowment for Girl Scout programs and opportunities in Southern West Virginia.
